/
  • Streaming + Download

Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

The CBDs have been performing around Boulder County since early 2013, but it took the untimely deaths of two beloved members of our band family, Sharon Ferguson and Greg Staab, to send us into the studio to make recordings of our original songs. Once there, we surprised ourselves with how much material we had on hand and how good it all sounded "on tape". We hope you enjoy listening as much as we did in the making. And, of course, this album is dedicated to Sharon and Greg.

Driving Won’t Get You There, Driving Won’t Get You There. One more breath of fresh air, Driving Won’t Get You There. If you wanna get ‘it in your soul, If you wanna get ‘it in your soul, Put the pieces back together whole So you can get ‘it in your soul, Runnin’ won’t take you away, Runnin’ won’t take you away, Wherever you roll down the highway, You just can’t run away, Drivin’ won’t take you home, Drivin’ won’t take you home, No matter how far you roam, Drivin’ won’t take you home. Get down with your spirit, You gotta get down with your spirit, Get right down, don’t fear it, You gotta get down with your spirit. Driving Won’t Get You There, Driving Won’t Get You There. It’s easy to say, on a summer’s day Look how bright I am I remain unchanged, Shining for you Up in a ceiling of blue But when it rains and the sky is grey You must remember I have not gone away When you’re sleeping so warm in your bed I’m Still There When dreams take you, to faraway lands And the stars are twinkling In the darkened heavens, I’m Still There I’m Still There In the coldest winter when snows make it hard to see Snowflake silver dollars falling hard through the years know even then when I may seem so far off I’m Still There And if the sky turns an angry shade of ebony threatening with thunder Death’s sad harmony Though days shorten, like memory and lengthen like kneaded dough, I remain unchanged, I’m Still There I’m Still There Aging in a time you cannot imagine know not because I tell you, know because it’s true One day you’ll cry for those who’ve gone too soon Someday they’ll cry for you Remember to tell them, before that day comes I’m still there, a shining star Shining for you, and those ahead of you and those long behind, I’m Still There I’m Still There

The trees and the mountains and the sky The water in the rivers flowin’ by Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Everything’s Got Soul… ain’t nuthin’ that don’t. Metaphor 05:02
I had forty pounds of gold and the sun was in my eyes. Said I had 40 pounds of gold, and the sun was in my eyes. A cloud came over I could see The gold was gone I ain't tell you no lies. You ask me what for the Metaphor, I tell you it's all I got. You ask me what for the Metaphor? I tell you it's all I got. Mister you can keep the gold but gimme my baby back for me to hold. My shoes are tied but they’re in the shop and I’m walkin’ on my bare feet. Well my shoes are tied they’re in the shop And I’m walking on my bare feet I got myself a blister, sister I tell you that it ain’t sweet. You ask me what for the Metaphor, I tell you it's all I got. You ask me what for the Metaphor? I tell you it's all I got. Mister you can keep the shoes but gimme my baby back I got the blues. You ask me what for the Metaphor, I tell you it's all I got. You ask me what for the Metaphor? I tell you it's all I got. Mister you can keep the shoes but gimme my baby back I got the blues Mister you can keep the shoes but gimme my baby back I got the blues.

Hey Sharon 03:19
Hey, Sharon; how I love to see you smile Hey, Sharon; how I love to see you smile I’ll do what I can To help your man stay sane. Well, I’ll do it just to see; Just to see you smile. Yeah, Sharon; you know I love to see you dance Yeah, Sharon; you know I love to see you dance When the music is jumpin’ And the piano’s thumpin’. You’re wearin’ a long long dress; I love to see you dance. Sharon, how I love to hear you laugh, Sharon, how I love to hear you laugh, The boy’s out smokin’ Papa gave up tokin’. He’s hittin’ the vape instead; I love to hear you laugh, I love to see you dance, I love to see you smile, When my friends are happy, So am I!

Coyote 03:46
Ivory moon, cloudless sky, where you sleeping tonight, Coyote? Ivory moon, river on your right, where sleeping tonight, Coyote Are you looking for a rabbit, are you lookin’ for love, Is it just an old habit, from the stars above? Some call you trickster, some call you scamp Using the full moon as your own streetlamp. Ivory moon, cloudless sky, where you sleeping tonight, Coyote? Ivory moon, river on your right, where sleeping tonight, Coyote? Runnin’ through the woods, playin’ in the snow, Listenin’ to the wind, not sure where to go. Livin’ by your wits and nature’s good graces Your ancient and ageless, with a thousand faces. Ivory moon, cloudless sky, where you sleeping tonight, Coyote? Ivory moon, river on your right, where sleeping tonight, Coyote? It’s the wildest party when you play with your friends, Then the owls call you home as morning ascends. The shadow’s your blanket, the daylight your dreams, Til the night wakes you up , and you’re up to your schemes. Ivory moon, cloudless sky, where you sleeping tonight, Coyote? Ivory moon, river on your right, where sleeping tonight, Coyote

It Wasn't Me 04:35
Somebody shot Molly Bondurant Out in the middle of the street. Upstairs you’d get anything you’d want But now she’s lyin’ cold between the sheets. Marshal, It Wasn’t Me No, Marshal, It Wasn’t Me. You know I’m mad at the whole wide world But I’d never kill a girl. I asked the judge why was I accused? “It was your pearl-handled gun the murderer used.” “But I was sleepin’ off a drunk that night, And the shot was fired in the pale moonlight”. “Judge,” I moaned, “Somebody stole my luck, While I was sleepin’ drunk in the back of my truck.” “That may be,” he said, “But you shoulda been up, Because, Son, you’re completely f-cked”. The gallows wait outside the door One more night and one drink more. Think of me when the night’s stars blaze, It’s too late to change my drinkin’ ways.

Last In Line 04:52
I never meant to make… you play that game The last thing on my mind… was to be unkind I only wanted to do... the best I can. ‘Cause Baby, you were the Last In Line You were the last to know, we ran out of time. A runaway team of horses can’t bring you back to me A freight train steaming down… the track won’t bring you back I put you on a boat and sent you off to sea, ‘Cause Baby, you were the Last In Line You were the last to know, we ran out of time. Now that I need you… I’m out on my own Can you ever forgive me for all the things I’ve said and done? At the very end… on the day we said goodbye You were kinder to me than ever I deserved to be It hurt me too… livin’ with the lies, ‘Cause Baby, you were the Last In Line You were the last to know, we ran out of time. Now that I want you… I’m out on the run Please forgive me for all the things I’ve said and done. (na na na na-na-na, na-na na na nah-na)

Floatin' 03:14
You got me Floatin’… like a leaf out on the breeze. You got me Floatin’… like a leaf out on the breeze. ‘Cause when I woke up this morning you were right there next to me. You say I’m flirtin’… with every waitress that I meet. You say I’m flirtin’… with every waitress that I meet But when I get hungry, Don’t you know you are my meat. Well, I know you call me sweetheart I call you Honeybee. There’s only one woman in this whole wide world for me Yes, I’m Floatin’… like a leaf out on the breeze. ‘Cause when I woke up this morning, you were right there next to me. I’m a’wondrin’... how I ever won your love. I’m a’wondrin’... how I ever won your love. You are more than I deserve, And you’re all I’m thinking of.

I been up all night thinkin’ and now I’m finally waitin’ for the dawn It ain’t like I’ve been drinkin’ and I ain’t done nothing wrong. But I’m worried ‘bout the world we’ll leave behind I’m worried ‘bout the days ahead I’m worried ‘bout the world our kids will find And I’m tired of countin’ the dead I just want Peace to rain down on us all just like from heaven Peace Rain Down, like when I throw that lucky seven, Onto that Vegas felt, I can shuffle what I’ve been dealt On the altar of love I’ve knelt, And I have prayed, prayed, prayed. I spent half my life gamblin’ But I hope you can understand I think that we’re all losing Bluffing on an empty hand. Gotta hold’em or fold’em and make it right Get from the dark into the light Gotta make this world a better place So all of us can have a taste Now I’ve had my heart broken I didn’t think that I could feel But love shone down again on me And I knew that I was healed. So ya gotta give thanks for another chance You gotta thank the stars above For every day you have the time to dance And every time you get to love

She's Gone 03:40
I always knew you’d bring me pain; And girl, you know it’s true. To leave me standin’ in the rain; And go and leave me blue. That train rolls farther down the track; Haulin’ tons of freight I hear that whistle fade away; And all I do is wait. It means so much to me… Just to see her smile But some things aren’t meant to be… Lord I miss you child That dream’s just a memory… the wonder in her eyes Now there’s nothin’ left; ‘cause She’s Gone Miles and miles between us now; What do I hope to find. Prayin’ that I never reach, the ending of that line. Waitin’ at the station now, and still I hope to see That locomotive comin’ round the bend, bring her back to me. It means so much to me… Just to see her smile But some things aren’t meant to be… Lord I miss you child That dream’s just a memory… the wonder in her eyes Now there’s nothin’ left; ‘cause She’s Gone It means so much to me… Just to see her smile But some things aren’t meant to be… Lord I miss you child That dream’s just a memory… the wonder in her eyes Now there’s nothin’ left;

If I Fell In Love With You, All Over Again Would I be sorry, my mind all in a spin? Or would it be… the finest hour of all? I don’t know if I can take it that far, The scars are so fresh, my heart beats too hard I wish I could believe…the words when you called. ‘Cause you hurt me once before I ain’t askin’ for more. I felt just like a first-class fool When you laughed and said ‘be cool’. If I Fell In Love With You, All Over Again Would you walk away like you did that day back when? Or would you stick around… in it for the long haul? Tell me, tell me, tell me Tell me what I want to hear Whisper words of love, tell me there ain’t nothin’ for me to fear If I Fell In Love With You, All Over Again

When I’m done, when I’m gone, Take the thorns from my head, Take me down, lay me down, That’s where I’ll make my bed. I don’t wanna hear no cryin’ Cause it ain’t that kind o’ dead, When I’m done, when I’m gone Take the thorns right from my head. I been workin’ on this chain gang for 47 years, Bustin’ rocks, punchin’ clocks, but my blood still runs red. One day they came and got me – and they conked me on the head. And when I awoke, the man next to me spoke, and this is what he said. I opened my eyes to the sunrise, and I knew I’d lost my way, I opened my mouth, nothin’ came out, ‘cause I don’t know how to pray. I looked around and I wondered, will I live another day? And then no joke, the man next to me spoke, and this is what I heard him say. Now my arms are so tired and I can’t hold up my head, I look around, blood’s flowin’ down, like a shiny river of red, The light around me is fading, but there’s a brighter light ahead, It was like I awoke when the man next to me spoke, and this is what he said.

Hey Babe… I’m lookin’ at your number in my telephone book, unh-huh Hey Babe… I’m lookin’ at your number in my telephone book, unh-huh That’s what it took, To make me loo-oo-oo-ook And call you again. It’s true… I know it is, you told me to “go on’n hit the road” It’s true… I know it is, you told me to “go on’n hit the road” That’s what you said, Was all in your heh-heh-heh-head And your mind done closed. Hey girl… I was hopin’ you’d give it one more whirl. Hey girl… I was hopin’ you’d give it one more whirl. One more dance, One more cha-aa-aa-ance To save our romance.

I used to know a girl from Amarillo She was the undisputed Queen Of The Armadillos, With my head firmly planted on my pillow I shed a tear for that girl from Amarillo. Amarillo! Armadillo! You know I love that girl from Amarillo. Her father pumped up oil out of El Paso, Lived on Taco Bell and bowls of raspberry jello, He was a most accommodatin’ mellow fellow, He let me date that girl from Amarillo. Amarillo! Armadillo! He let me date that girl from Amarillo. Well, she took up with a no-good bum in Austin, I headed west lookin’ for some mountains to get lost in. The last I heard was a letter postmarked Boston, She was movin’ in to the Village right off Houston. Amarillo! Armadillo! The Village got that girl from Amarillo. One day that girl called me on the telephone, Said that way up north it never felt like home. With her old man livin’ in a retirement home in Odessa, “Come and see me some time, I live in San Antone”. Amarillo! Armadillo! You know I love that girl from Amarillo. Amarillo! Armadillo! You know I love the Queen Of the Armadillos.
